Coaching Key to ADD
Sarah Jane Keyser

Are you adult, working or retired, parent or grandparent? ADHD Coaching is for you.

Welcome to
Coaching for Attention Deficit /Hyperacitivity Disorder
,
though we prefer to call it a difference not a disorder.

I don't know if I have ADHD. How can I find out?

For a diagnosis you must see a doctor. Not any doctor, but one who has experience in treating people with ADHD. To get an idea look at this questionnaire for ADHD.

"How will ADHD Coaching help me live successfully with ADHD?"

ADHD Coaching is a partnership in which you can say all those things which you are ashamed to say to your friends or family, like "I don't dare open my closets because of what will fall out", or "I still haven't sent those thank you notes or done whatever since three years ago", or "social situations embarass me because I never know whats going on or who said what to whom", "I'm always out of it."

As your ADHD coach I will help you understand how ADHD leads to these behaviors and show you a world where you can let go of the shame attached. Together we will structure life and invent strategies to complete your plans, honor your committments, and love your friends and family.

But how does it work?

In our initial interview we agree on the goals you would like to reach, your expectations of me as your ADHD coach and your responsibilities as coachee.

During a single coaching session we review what you accomplished during the week and what role ADHD played in your life. I'll ask you powerful questions which open up a new vision of you and your world, then we finish a session with you choosing the steps you need to work on before the next session.

How long does coaching take?

A common formula for ADHD coaching is three 1/2 hour sessions a month by telephone. The number of sessions will vary according to the nature of the goals you want to accomplish. For deep and lasting changes, I ask you to think of at least three months. With ADHD it takes time to integrate changes into your self image and your world view.

We can design a program tailored to your needs. Another possibility is to talk for 10 to 15 minutes every week day. Or maybe you would like to have just one session to discuss a particularly troublesome situation. You are in charge.

By telephone?

Yes, ADHD coaching by telephone works very well. Some find it more comfortable talking by telephone than working face to face. In addition it is convenient and economical.

You know, I can get myself organized, manage my time, and get along with people if I want to. Why do I need a coach?

If you can do those things, you don't need a coach. But if you think you can do them but have not done them yet, it's time now to get started. Successful people recognize their weaknesses and know when to get help.

Alright, how do I get started?

Send me an email, Sarah Jane Keyser, ADHD Coach, giving me your availability so we can agree a time for an initial get-to-know-each-other interview. If you then decide to pursue your life goals we will fix the date and time for our first month of sessions.
